Year 11 student, Louis has recently embarked on a new work placement at IKEA. You can read all about his first day in his recount provided below. Great job Louis - we are so proud of you!Ìý

On Tuesday the 19th of July 2022 I started my work experience at IKEA in Innaloo.

First at 9:30am, Grandpa Adam dropped me off at IKEA. I met Kazie there. We scanned in and went in the lift. Then we signed in. Kevin came to meet us and took us to the staffroom. We had recess. Next, we went to Kathy’s office. She did a PowerPoint about safety rules at IKEA. Then we took a break and had a stretch. We walked to the flags, and looked at the recycling bin, forklifts, and around the emergency exits. The forklift has an orange safety light, and it makes a beeping sound. We need to stand back when we hear it coming. After that, Michael took me to the uniform shop and gave me a blue & black uniform and a hat. I need to wear my special shoes with metal toe caps. After that, I had some lunch in the staff canteen. I ate a vegemite sandwich. After that, Wendy came and took me to the IKEA restaurant. I cleaned the table with the spray and the wet cloth. I also took the trays to the conveyor belt, and I put the highchairs away.

Finally, we said goodbye to Wendy, Kevin, Michael, Hayley and Linda. We signed out and said thank you. I felt happy and excited. I want to go back to IKEA next week Tuesday for work experience.
