Carmel High School is widely acknowledged as a centre for academic excellence. Consistently ranked highly, our results are a testament to the strong learning culture that permeates our school. We are delighted to share our 2023 results below:

Our teaching staff are dedicated and supportive, helping students to achieve their individual educational goals. Our size means that students benefit from a nurturing environment dedicated to honing individual skills and interests. At the same time, students in the high school are offered a range of subjects plus the option of WACE or general education for Years 11 and 12.

Within our high-performing environment, considerable emphasis is given to pastoral care. Students are placed into vertical house groups, encouraging authentic interaction between the year levels and enabling older students to act as mentors and leaders to our younger students. Students are given many leadership opportunities throughout high school in the areas of sports, culture, community service and Jewish life.

The learning spaces in the high school are adaptable, allowing for small group collaboration and full class tuition, with our expert teachers aptly moving between different learning spaces and formats. Carmel High School has a fully functional performance space, a newly opened innovation lab, a dedicated Visual and Performing Arts department, a brand new entrepreneurship program space, a Kosher Food Technology centre, gymnasium and numerous multi-functional learning areas.

The secondary curriculum follows the guidelines provided by the School Curriculum and Standards Authority of Western Australia, following the eight Learning Areas of the Curriculum Framework: The Arts, English, Health & Physical Education, Languages Other Than English, Mathematics, Science, Society & Environment and Technology & Enterprise. Curriculum in Western Australia is currently undergoing a transition from the abovementioned Curriculum Framework to the new Australian Curriculum. ÁùºÏ²ÊͶעÍø has a staged induction of this curriculum with it currently being taught in YearsÌý7 – 10 in Mathematics, Science, English and History (as a part of the Society and Environment program).

Students in Years 7,Ìý8, 9 and 10 study secular core subjects, a range of Jewish Studies modules and electives of their choice. The Secondary School aims to give all students the opportunity to qualify for tertiary studies, either University or TAFE, with a range of stage 2 and 3 WACE (Western Australian Certificate of Education) courses offered in Years 11 and 12. Our Year 11 and 12 students can choose from a wide array of ATAR and General WACE course offerings, as well as VET pathways.

The majority of Carmel graduates go on to careers of purpose, in areas in which they have skill and interest. Many spend a year overseas in Israel prior to commencing tertiary studies at leading Australian universities.
